Ladies and gents, we've been busy, and we admit that we haven't been on top of things as far as informing you as to what we have in the works. So, here's a run down of what's happening:
1. We are writing, and demoing songs for the new album. It is our hope that you love them.
2. We recently had a photo shoot with Ross Johnson, who does excellent work. Check him out.
3. We will be recording a single soon. It is our hope that you will love that as well.
4. All of the above posts start with 'we', but you probably already noticed that.
Over the past few months, we've also played some noteworthy shows in Bakersfield and Fresno, which were a lot fun. We played some new songs at these shows as well, so if you're wanting to hear the new stuff before it's officially released, your best bet is coming out to a show and asking to hear the new songs. We will more than likely oblige.
In addition, we are keeping our eyes open for a second guitarist, so if you are interested or know someone who is, message us on Facebook.

It's been too long, friends.
Well, Hiddy Ho, neighbors. We hope you have all been well these past few weeks. You may be wondering why we've been off the radar for a little while, or you may not. We'll tell you why, anyways.
Some interesting things are in the works. Plans are being made. Schematics are being laid out. Physical and figurative schematics. School and work are being attended to. A dear friend of ours is back and we've been catching up. Traveling, getting inspired, writing, and talking a lot among ourselves to decide which direction we are going, which trail we are blazing next, our destination, etc.
We recently played in Palmdale and ventured a bit further south to visit our good friend Los Angeles, as well. Almost ran out of gas in a Jeepers Creepers-esque stretch of road heading back to the I-5 at 1 a.m., got ripped off at a Wendy's, got lost in LAX, experienced how Los Angelesians drive (if you can call it driving.) Overall, a wonderful experience.
So, please forgive the lack of major updates, friends. We have been busy. Talk to us on our Facebook, we love to hear from you guys. We really hate to give the typical, vague jabber of "plans" that so many bands do, but we are actually serious. Nothing is certain yet. We will inform you when it is.
And just in case you forgot...

Step Your Game Up Tour was...
Quite a lovely experience. Aside from the injuries and misfortunes we endured, it was great. A big thanks to everyone who made it possible and to our good friends in Silence O Israel. Those guys are the best.
Photos from Alex Raines should be up soon, and there are some videos up on youtube.
Thank you to everyone who came out to the shows, and made this tour worth it.

After the show tonight, we have a day off tomorrow which we are planning on spending here in Portland as well, then heading to the Quesadilla Factory in Centralia, WA.
So here are some things to check out:

T'was the night before tour...
Hello everyone. Well, not a whole lot to say, other than our Step Your Game Up Tour begins tomorrow night. Here are some videos of us preparing to embark!

If you pause at 1:03 in the third video and listen closely, you can hear Mitch fart.
So, this whole process has made us realize that we are an extremely fortunate band. We have encountered some things preparing for this tour that could've easily deterred us from continuing on, however with the support from our good friends and family, we were able to make it happen. So a big thank you to our good friends Silence O Israel and to all our family members for being so supportive. It means the world to us.

To all of those planning on coming out to a show on this tour, thank you all so much. We will see you all soon.
I'm not gonna lie. I ran out of silly things to sign the post with. So until my creative juices are rejuvenated:

Tour Preparations!
Check it out! We leave in a little less than a week! Who's stoked?!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DlzGpi038Do
Just making a few last minute preparations before we depart. To quote the ground-breakingly intellectual (and extremely well written) lyrics of the song whose video was recently removed (Rebecca Black's song "Friday")... Well... We so excited.

So the show in Los Gatos was...
Well... We aren't going to lie. The venue was a tad bit empty and the promoter wasn't exactly the coolest dude. But we did make friends with a few bands which made it well worth the drive for us! Be sure to check these guys out, you'll be glad you did.

Our buddies in Me The Mountain also let us kick it with them at their beach house in Watsonville! It was quite a fun time.

So now we're back in the miserable central valley, trying to get reacquainted with the horrendous weather and horrendous drivers. We are working on even more new songs that we will be doing at shows soon. So expect us to be fine tuning our current set and getting ready for tour! It's coming up faster than you can say, "You'd best put that away before you shoot your eye out!"

I be up all night, whole crew's in here...
So we had a blast in Coarsegold last Friday night, thanks to everyone who came out and had a blast with us and our friends Heroes. We all had so much fun, and Heroes played a new song for us, which was quite dapper. So dapper, in fact, that we decided to break out our dancing shoes and fedoras.
In the works: new promos, new merch, even more new songs that will be making appearances at shows soon, releasing a single or two, and as usual, we are writing even more new stuff! We are up to our ankle's in new material, it's quite a satisfying feeling. :)
So friends, holler at us, tell us what you think, how you feel, and more importantly, what's poppin' doe.

It's been awhile, yeah?
So here's what's up: We played a show last Friday in Delano at the Sierra Theatre which was off the chain, and we were fortunate to have met a lot of really cool kids and to have made a connection with so many people, thanks to everyone who came out. Hopefully we will be back soon!
We are also playing tomorrow, June 17th in Coarsegold with our good friends, "Heroes."
In our down time, we've been soaking up the horrendous central California summer heat, reading too much Yahoo! news, listening to improv piano jazz, and writing like we never have before. For those of you who have seen us at a show lately, you know that we've thrown some new songs into the set, and we couldn't be more proud of them. There's nothing like toiling over a song until the perfect part comes to you, or until the lyrical theme becomes apparent. Here in TDIATM, we spend a good portion of our time writing and revising current songs as well as older ones, and we love every second of it. We love music. It makes sense that we are in a band. Each of us as individuals eat, breathe, sleep, pee, digest, bleed, sweat, gulp, leak... (you get it) music. Without music, we would not be the same people. Playing live, recording, writing, they are all parts of the whole. It all has the same value to us. We don't put in less effort in any one part of the whole.
Sorry, that was a bit excessive. In our defense, it has been quite awhile since the last post, so a lot has been on our minds. :)
Be sure to come to a show soon, you can see all the dates over on the right side of this page.
In the mean time, we're The Day I Ate The Moon, and we be...

What's been going on lately...
So, we've been rehearsing like mad these past few weeks to start hitting up all these shows we have booked in June and getting ready to hit the road in July! We also just finished another demo of a new song which we are very stoked to be playing live very soon!
Here are some photos from a show we just played at Kuppajoe last weekend, all credits go to Kristopher Michael Dela Cerna. http://www.facebook.com/home.php#!/doorkykim
As you can see, our good friend Anthony Polanco joined us for a bit of surprise guest vocals during 'Oceans'. ;]
Everyone be sure to make it out to Delano this Friday to the Sierra Theatre at 6pm to catch us and a bunch of great bands! We will be premiering some new songs as well, so you won't want to miss it!

Tons of new updates soon!
Well everyone, we have quite a lot to share with you! But we can't quite do it just yet... Bear with us this next week or so, and be sure to come out to the first show that we've had in awhile at Kuppajoe in Fresno, June 4th. Trust us, you won't wanna miss it. :) We've been writing a lot lately and working on our new sound.
Frankly, we think it's safe to say that the new Moon songs are truly on another level from anything we have previously done, and we couldn't be more excited to show you all.
So as usual, stay in touch with us, and be sure to come to Kuppajoe in Fresno, June 4th!

Promos with Alex Raines!
We had a photoshoot late last night with our pal Alex Raines from Bakersfield, and it was such a good time! Another good friend of ours, Spencer Keene, came along for the fun and it resulted in a night full of Alex thinking that our drummers' car was an actual police car, Mitch scaling the outside of parking structures, all of us taking lots of cute photographs in various places, pretending to be French tourists in front of random elderly couples and in a Denny's, giving each other fake tattooes in inappropriate locations, being sexually harassed by cats, talking about music, life, love, etc. Oh, and a few other inappropriate things happened. (Thanks Spencer. I will never look at a banana the same way again.)
So, we should have a few finished pictures from Alex soon, so we will post them up here and on our sites!
We are really stoked for all the things we've been doing lately and all the things that are coming up, you guys should be, too! New songs are being written and thought up as this is being typed, so without further ado, adieu friends.

"Oceans" Video Shoot.
So, everyone... We just shot a video for our song "Oceans" with our good friend Jordan Pulmano from the band Heroes, and we are all really excited about it. We almost flipped the van, Mitch and LZ had a dance off in the backseat, and we learned never to urinate into the wind, (among other things). More importantly, it was very gratifying to finally be able to shoot this video after months and months of planning, and based off of the few clips we got to see after we finished, it's going to look really great. We will keep you posted on when it will be finished, so keep checking back for updates.
Here are some photos we took:
As you can see, it was quite a fun time.
Regarding everything else in the world of Moon, we have been writing and rehearsing our new set and are so thrilled to present some new songs to you all at our next few shows. So, talk to us and check out all the new things we are up to, and keep checking back for a release date for the video.

We are The Day I Ate The Moon, a 4 piece post-hardcore band from Visalia, California. Since this band was born, we have been constantly striving to offer a fresh take on heavy music, pushing ourselves creatively to write material that is not only original, but catchy and uplifting.
In December 2010, we entered ScenixScience Studios with producer/engineer Frankie Velasco and began working on our debut EP "Oceans." It was released March 5th and is available at:
www.thedayiatethemoon.bigcartel.com
Since the release of "Oceans", we have parted ways with our former guitarist Mike, who left on good terms, and The Manic Group management company.
As of now, we are Nate, Eric, Mitch, and LZ, writing new material which we will begin premiering at shows soon. We are quite proud of what we've been working on and are very eager to share it with you all. We also are in the process of lining up a tour in June 2011, and we will be posting more information as it becomes available.
So, be on the lookout for new music, new promos, new tour dates, new merch, and lots of shows coming up soon. We hope you all are as excited as we are about the new Moon that is coming to be. Thank you all so much for your support.
